Even for personnel managers and experts on employment law, writing a letter of reference that is correct in form and content, fulfills all legal requirements and is not susceptible to being contested is no easy task.

Although employers are legally obliged to provide letters of reference to employees, the law remains rather vague as to what they should contain and in what form.
